We have only been in school since August 8, 2013 but the students have already raised a $1000.00 for the Relay for Life fund. I have challenged them to raise $10,000.00 by the end of school and I will have my head shaved at an assembly before the entire student body.
Since then our Principal Russ Elam and Coach Rob Scarborough have committed to also shave theirs if they raise the money.
Please help us raise this money. My mother was recently diagnosed with cancer. By the time we found it the cancer had spread from her breasts to her brain and back. My sister Brenda had to have a mastectomy last year and my father Frances Shinaberry died of a malignant brain tumor.
Some of my grandchildren are mortified that I would have my head shaved but I keep reminding them and my students that life is not all about ourselves. We were put here by God to do for others and this is my way of contributing to the fight against cancer.
